David T. Hawkins is running for Leon County Commissioner in District 5. He is a Tallahassee resident of nearly 60 years, and has been a State employee for 36 years. David has been involved in the politics of Florida since 2010, running for County Commissioner for the first time in 2016; where he received a third of the votes even as an unknown.
Leon County is David's home, and he strives to care for it alongside the voters and his fellow Commissioners, without the unnecessary spending and over budget projects of the past, but with simple and logical solutions.
Coming from a blue collar background, he has continued his life with the belief that hard work and dedication are the staples of a successful life, no matter the pursuit. Hard work and ingenuity are things learned through years of experience, and as a car guy, David has had many years of learning how to work with what he has on hand.
His goal is simple; to make Leon County a safer home for its citizens with the highest quality of life possible. To listen to the people of this county, to hear what it is that they need and implement change when asked. To be a Commissioner is a full time job, and David is prepared to listen, and to fight when needed, for the people of Leon County.
